I was task to design a logo for a city of my choice, and I chosed to create one for Kyoto. This city of Japan is the oldest, and is very famous for their shrines. Whether you are religious or not, Japanese shrines are very welcoming, many vistors come to admire the architecture and histories that are rooted in Kyoto.
Research
Through researchI learned the different landmarks in Kyoto, one of them being the Golden Pavilion. I researched folktales, their older building, and their histories of geisha and maiko.
Variety in Logos
After doing the research, I dived in to the drawing board and used Adobe Illustrator to create 3 versions of the logo. I want to showcase the ancient part of Japan that everyone admire Kyoto in this modern era while the other cities in Japan are being modernized.
Logo
I decided to go with this logo with the kitsune facing away each other. They are protectors and symbolism of good luck and harvest. I chose to use this logo because it captures their folktale histories and the ancient part of Japan that Kyoto occupies.
